Bigger than his body.
The artist
John Clayton Mayer (1977) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mayer attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but disenrolled and moved to Atlanta in 1997 with Clay Cook. Together, they formed a short-lived two-man band called Lo-Fi Masters. After their split, Mayer continued to play local clubs, refining his skills and gaining a following.
My album
where the light is: john mayer live in los angeles (2007). A powerful performance on stage thanks to his mastering of the guitar and a revisit to some blues references as well as a cover of Tom Petty's Free Fallin.
My song
I'm gonna find another you (Continuum, 2006). Why? John Mayer has a lot of great guitar songs that I love (mainly live), but this melancholic and blues-like song stroke a chord because of an old flame.
Did you know?
Mayer composed the song Bigger than my body (Heavier Things, 2003) after going to a Coldplay concert. He wrote it to explain his desire to write both moving and great music, like what he found in artists like Coldplay, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Pearl Jam.
