The best of the best?
The band
Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham.
My album
Mothership is a compilation album released in 2007, on the same day that Led Zeppelin's entire catalogue became available in digital stores. The songs included were chosen by the surviving members of Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones) and represent the band's eight studio albums.
My song
Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin III, 1970). Why? Because it has an amazing kick off, building upon a repeating riff and lyrical references to Norse mythology, with Plant's howling vocals mentioning war-making and Valhalla.
Did you know?
Stairway to heaven (untitled fourth studio album, 1971) was the most requested song on FM radio stations in the United States in the 1970s, despite never having been commercially released as a single there.
