The artist

Jamiroquai is an English funk and acid jazz band from London, formed in 1992. Fronted by singer-songwriter Jay Kay, the band was a prominent component of the London-based funk/jazz movement of the 1990s. Its sound draws from black music of the 1970s and its lyrics and visual concepts occasionally deal with social and environmental idealism.

My album

Synkronized (1999). When I bought the CD, took it home and listened to the first track (Canned Heat) in my car, I really thought this was the best funky groove of all time! This easy-dancing tune (with violins!) made such an impression on me that the CD stayed in my car for a long time.

My song

Space Cowboy (The Return of the Space Cowboy, 1994). Why? Because it was really different from what I was listening to at that time. It has a groovy bass line and Jay Kay's voice is as smooth as silk. Also, this song had two versions. This is the first version of this song. The one I prefer.

Did you know?

Jay Kay has an impressive car collection. Money and good taste allowed the singer to gather around 70 cars, from Porsches and Ferraris to Lamborghins, Mercedes, McLarens and BMWs, from the 60s till recent years.
